The only color one can see today will be the man toys clearing the snow as even the pine trees are white. But since I don’t have a ‘big boy toy’ to clear my driveway and there is a lot more snow to remove than what is in this picture, the green color of my little toy will be white with the wind blowing the snow and since I have no cozy cab on my snow-blower  I will be white too!

I’m trying to imagine blossoms on this tree since there are hints of white as a friend of mine has been telling me of her almond blossoms and how pretty they smell right now but it’s not working because all I smell is cold and I feel the cold too.

It might be a fun tree to climb in the summer but one would get a chilly butt climbing it now.

(I will be taking a mini vacation so I won’t be posting any pictures on February 29, 30 or the 31st.)

What is an eerie noise that sounds like rain is actually the icy limbs rattling in the wind and it makes you wonder how many limbs are going to break under the weight of the ice. And can be sort of pretty to look at and it seems like snowflakes, the ice creates a unique form on every needle, branch and limb. It appears every needle on the pine tree was encased by the ‘pretty ice’.

Now this frosty tree appears to be a nice place for a squirrel to live and there is one squirrel that might get relocated there. This morning a squirrel just found the bird feeder on the porch and when my cat went out to watch the thief steal seeds, the squirrel got mad and it peed on my cat, the screen and floor. So I ended up washing the screen and rinsing the porch floor. Trying to wash the cat was not so easy and only got a towel bath so far and I don’t really want to do a sniff test to see if a full bath is required. That squirrel might get dunked in the water trough the next time I see that rodent!

Squirrel’s New Home

Picture of the Day for December 14, 2012

The pretty new fallen snow doesn’t last long. The wind blows the snow off, the sun melts it or the critters start romping through the snow leaving tracks everywhere. When I was out walking in the snow yesterday, I was surprised by the number of tracks, including the deer tracks that led up to my bedroom window! The squirrel tracks generally went from tree to tree, the deer tracks made well traveled paths, bird tracks were under the feeders and the little mice tracks seem to be a random path and some just ended. They may have been a mid-afternoon snack for a hawk or eagle.

It has been usually warm here this summer and this bunch of cows were hiding under the shade of an old willow tree yesterday. Normally there is a little creek next to the tree but that is bone dry right now.

There are calves in the long grass but you never know what else might be in the grass as I had a snake sunning itself on my path to the pond this morning but I didn’t get a picture since I sort of jumped so no snake picture, just cattle today.
