Although it seemed like it took forever for something to bloom this spring, as soon as I mowed the lawn, the dandelions popped overnight to carpet the ground in yellow.

My big furry visitor returned Friday night and it didn’t take long for the bear to knock my bird feeder pole down again. And this time he grabbed the suet feeder off my porch and carried it away in his mouth. There was a good chance the northern lights would have been visible, but with the bear back, I didn’t feel very safe walking up to the spot in the dark where I normally view the sky. This dark spot among the trees almost looked like a bear at first glance.

As the thunderstorms rolled in yesterday, this was one of the last pieces of blue sky before the clouds blanketed the sky and created a light show from the all the lightning.

The wind today made it feel colder than the 40 degree day, but the sunshine was melting the snow. And the week is supposed to be above freezing so the snow pack will continue to shrink down.

I notice that the recent windy days, including today, have most of the autumn leaves off even the mighty oaks that normally hang on a little longer into the year. But with only traces of snow left, it was a nice day for walk before winter returns with more snow.
