Catching that elusive big fish may not be at a lake, but at the base of a waterfall and I wonder if this boy was lucky on a summer Saturday afternoon.
Waterfall Fishing
Last night storms caused damage from wind and the heavy amount of rain. All the runoff has stirred up my pond to a brown color and the ditches looked more like big waterfalls as the water washed out culverts and roads. And while the storm caused the rainfall to seem to be bad, Bad River in Northern Wisconsin has a series of nice waterfalls including Copper Falls.

Yesterday the snow melting on my roof created mini waterfalls but by this evening most of that white stuff finally has melted so just a trickle was dripping off the house. And hopefully no more snow will be added back on the roof and that the ground starts appearing without its winter coat.
Behind the Falls
There was a loud noise when a chunk of ice and snow fell off the house roof today. I rather have the loud roar of a non-frozen waterfall instead, especially with more upcoming days below freezing temperatures. The High Falls of the Baptism River has a drop of 60 feet but has a bigger volume of water in the spring and summer compared to this late fall image.

It is amazing when 20 degrees feels warm, but considering that 20 above zero is 40 degrees warmer than the minus 20 yesterday morning, it is a bit of a heat wave. But still not above freezing to melt any snow so the scene at the Amnicon Lower Falls would have white from snow on the rocks instead of just the white from the water foam.
