These turkeys avoided being the main course for today’s dinner. About 46 million turkeys are eaten on Thanksgiving Day but most of them are not these wild turkeys.
Now that Halloween is over, these turkeys better watch out so they don’t end up as the main guest at the dinner table. The one turkey is trying to get some red berries to go with the supper.
A flock of turkeys were enjoying the sunshine as they crossed the road in front of me. The tom turkey was the first to dash to the other side and I had to wait before the hens decided to venture across too.
Several turkeys were wandering through my yard today but I didn’t see any little babies with them yet so they might have been some teenagers out exploring.
Since most of the turkeys are already dressed and ready to be put in the oven tomorrow, this guy is probably safe from being the honored guest at tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner. But the deer hunt continues for a few more days yet so with the guns going off, he might not feel very safe.
