With the rain today, the snow drifts by the road corner melted some so that I don’t have to do the slow creep into the intersection to try to see around the high snow banks.

This cardinal wasn’t happy during the snow storm as the limb broke that I had the bird feeders tied to and not too much of the feeder was sticking out of the snow. He was able to get some seeds after the squirrels dug some of the snow away.

Mother Nature played a nasty April Fools’ Day prank as it dumped heavy wet snow overnight which made it look like winter instead spring and caused many people hours to shovel this morning.

Earlier this week, I had been raking snow off my roof before the predicted rain and snow came again, as I wasn’t sure the roof could handle anymore weight. And after it had been raining for a while, I heard noises on one end of my house and I maybe a rafter did break. But then I started to hear other noises too. What I discovered was four tom turkeys trying to break into my basement door as apparently they wanted out of the freezing rain. They been hanging around the last few days but I’m still not letting them inside my house.

This morning there was some faint sundogs around the sun created by the ice crystals in the air. Course the calves didn’t seem to care about the sky but only that I was delayed putting their feed out by taking the picture.

I was driving on a back road today when I spotted a row of round hay bales that were wrapped in white plastic lined up in a row in a field, and they looked similar to old breakwater posts covered in ice and snow I saw in a Lake Superior harbor.
