Some of the streams are flowing again and I spotted some ducks where there was some open water but I imagine the water was a bit on the chilly side especially where new ice was recovering the ponds.

Winter is refusing to release its hold this year as another snow storm drops more of that cold white stuff. I watched items on the lawn, which were emerging from the white layer, get completely covered over again with snow. Those robins have had their tails get covered with snow too many times already so spring should be allowed to come but instead forecast calls for cold and more snow.

March is going out like a lion, with the roaring wind which blew the new layer snow around. It didn’t feel or look like spring anymore, especially watching the kids dressed in snowmobile suits digging through the snow for eggs for the Easter egg hunt.

Although it wasn’t above freezing this morning, the sun was bright enough to melt some snow and my pond has finally filled back up and was overflowing. But there wasn’t any frog croaking as the only sounds were the cracking of ice as the sheet of ice moved around, especially as the fall low water level ice layer started to float to the top of the flooded pond.

The old saying is that “Spring will finally arrive after three snows on a robin’s tail.” Well the robins arrived last week and it snowed today, but I don’t want it to snow again so I wonder if it counts if I shake snow off the tree branches a couple times on to the robin tail so spring can come.

The new snow might create pretty scenes like this rural setting but the winds during the last snow storm filled in all my paths causing me to sink in the snow to my knees while trying to feed the cats outside. I guess I should have put snowshoes on!

The tree branches were a bit furry again this morning but they were not covered with snow but with frost instead. Although it looked like it was snowing under blue skies when the wind and sun dislodged the hoarfrost from the limbs.

The outdoors was filled with the sounds of snowmobiles racing across the new snow. I imagine there was some skiing and snowshoeing happening in the sunshine. And there was also a lot of shoveling too making me feeling a bit weary from multiple snow storms and even this tree seems weakened under the weight of more snow.

The morning dawned in a white shroud with the frost covering all the trees and it appeared to be snowing as the crystals blew off the limbs and almost looked like a waterfall.
