Picture of the Day for June 10, 2018

I didn’t get to see the sunset tonight, even though I was outside when the sun went down, as I was mowing behind the tree line. I did some some pink bouncing off some clouds to the east. But even though I missed the sunset, I did see a lot of other offerings from Mother Nature as I mowed, including two different batches of baby bunnies, a little fawn with spots and later probably its mother but the grass was too tall to spot the fawn again. Also noticed some rodents and insects and got off the mower once to pick a wild strawberry only to discover some critter had already eaten the bottom half.

As I approached the pond today while mowing, I noticed some baby ducks scooting across the water and I thought the wood ducks had hatched. So I grabbed my camera but by the time I came back, they were gone so I started mowing again. Eventually I saw them heading down the path to the area I hadn’t mowed yet. After a closer look, I discovered it was the mallard and her babies and not the wood ducks yet.
