The birds have been eating a lot of sunflower seeds lately, but it will be months before new plants will be blossoming to produce more seeds for them.

With all the February snow, whenever spring comes that the woodchuck promised, I think my lawn will look like a river with the amount of snow that has to melt.

Some of the houses have large icicles forming from their roofs from all the recent snow starting to melt but at least they aren’t quite as big as these icicles along Lake Superior shoreline.

The sun hasn’t melted all the snow off the trees yet and definitely not off my roof. Even shaking some of the limbs wouldn’t dislodge the snow from the tree branches.

The exact origin of Valentine’s Day might not be known, but across the country, candy, flowers and gifts were exchanged between loved ones on this holiday. Cupid and hearts are common symbols for the day but Cupid wasn’t shooting candy down to my house but he must have been having a pillow fight instead as more snow fell today. It will be a few more months before I see these hearts.

It was another day of watching snowflakes falling and blowing. People may complain about dandelions in their yards but seeing the little parachutes of the weed would mean warmer temperatures.

The “pretty” snow looks nice for Christmas but with snow storms after snow storms, that white stuff is looking less appealing especially when I was raking snow off my roof and having to fix the snow blower in the cold. Warmer temperatures and white apple blossoms would be a welcome addition to the scene.

As I was raking snow off the house roof, the white snow falling reminded me of Lost Creek Falls. But viewing that waterfall in the summer is more enjoyable than standing waist deep in snow in below freezing temperatures.
