Although some churches have opened with a limited number of people attending, others still remain closed on this Sunday morning due to the current pandemic. St Mary’s Orthodox Church in Cornucopia was settled in 1909 by Eastern European immigrants who settled in Northern Wisconsin because of the good farming conditions.

The road ditches near the south shore of Lake Superior had splashes of color from the lupines, but most of the lupines spotted are not native to the area and are another of the pretty ‘escapees’ flowers.

The bottom portion of this sign probably applies to a few of my relatives (even if they had GPS). And also applies to navigating as one of my aunts lost her navigating spot in the passenger seat and was relegated to the back seat after a few hours of traveling (because she was too busy looking at the scenery and not paying attention to the roads signs or the map).

This gray cat was perched on top of a large boulder while surveying the area, but at least she didn’t leap off the rock and land on me.

Some areas in Wisconsin received a lot of rain from the remnants of tropical storm Cristobal, causing some flooding in areas. Water-lilies probably didn’t mind the extra rain where other flowers were drenched and are waiting for the sun to return.

This lighthouse seems to get lost in the storms often as two of the three times I have seen it, the lighthouse was experiencing some stormy conditions and hidden in the clouds and fog.

With the temperatures above 90 today, many people were finding creative ways to cool off, such as wading in a river.

More people may be enjoying the state parks and trails this weekend is the Free Fun weekend where no admission is required, so a trip to see a waterfall may be on the agenda for the day.

On a sunny day, some red and yellow irises seem to pop out against the green, blue and white.

A small patch of pink waved at me when I was mowing today. The first wild rose blossom opened up during this first week of June.
