This morning there was a male ring-necked pheasant on the road, who flew off as I approached, which was better than last evening when a deer ran in front of my car and it came way too close to the car instead of running away.

This squirrel might not be happy with the cloudy day with occasional rain showers today, but it warmer than it will be as a stretch of days not getting above freezing so hopefully he has stashed a lot of food for the winter.

I saw the total lunar eclipse this morning as I headed out to set up for election day, so I didn’t have a nice subject, like a lighthouse, as a foreground to take a photo of moon plus the clouds started to move in. There will not be another total lunar eclipse until March 14, 2025.

The trees are not hiding much of the sunset now that the strong gusts of wind yesterday seemed to rip any remaining leaves off the limbs and deposited some of the fallen leaves into my pond.

The sunshine today did not feel very warm with the winds gusting over 40 mph that caused ripples on a little creek so I imagine there were some waves on the bigger lakes.

One month ago the trees were displaying autumn’s range of color and now the most of the tree limbs are barren as the weather turns chilly.

The day remained cloudy but it probably will be one of the last days in the 60s for the year as winter is approaching too fast, so it was a good day to do some last minute outdoor activities including exploring the parks.

The strong winds today caused a lot of the oak leaves to fall, which normally hang on longer into winter. My lawn was covered in brown leaves as the colorful red and orange maple leaves are long gone and only a few poplar yellow leaves dotted the lawn.

As the new month starts, most of the trees have lost their leaves as winter approaches, but it was a good day to catch a nap in the sunshine while the temperature was in the upper 60s.
