Yesterday I spotted the first flower blossom outside. One single stem of a Siberian Squill was blooming but with the temperature being only 20 overnight, it might be a frozen blossom now.
First Bloom
The mid-sixty degree day woke the chipmunks up from their winter nap. This chipmunk raced up the oak tree and hid in a hole in the limb as two other chipmunks were chasing each other at the base of the tree. I’m not sure the the chipmunk was trying to hide from the others or if the paw over the face was a mother shame of her kids misbehaving.
Can’t See Me Chipmunk
The nice Monday afternoon had some bluebirds singing which was a very welcome song because no bluebirds nested the last two year in my birdhouses. I have seen the bluebird checking out the duck houses but hopefully it will pick one of the birdhouses that the mice haven’t returned to.
