With the last few windy days and snow still on the ground this morning, the season of autumn color viewing is coming to a quick end, although I did see one red tree yet today that looked pretty surrounded by a white ground. And instead of a walk in the freezing temperature, a drive in the car with the heat on, would have felt better to view the few remaining areas with autumn color.
Autumn Coming to the End
The old log building doesn’t look very fancy but with a nice fire going in the fireplace, it would feel cozy against the chilly wet and snowy weather that some will experience tonight and tomorrow.

With the autumn on the tail end of the leaf peeping season, you will find more leaves on the ground than on the tree limbs except for a few tree types like the oaks. Most of colorful maples leaves have settled on the ground for the long winter nap.
Fallen Leaves
The leaves were not the only thing blowing in the very gusty winds today as snowflakes were also flying though the air. Even though the winds today stripped many leaves from the trees, it also blew some of the fallen leaves off the lawn so less raking for me to do.

The sky did manage to clear in the afternoon, allowing the sun to shine on the leaves, although many trees have lost most of their leaves from the strong winds over the last few days.
Looking Up at Color
Viewing the autumn display today probably was done by cars instead of long hikes due to the rain falling on and off during the day. The strong winds also caused the leaves to float on the air before landing on the ground, soon to be covered under the winter’s blanket of snow.
Rainy Autumn Day
Today might have been the last 70 degree day for the season until next year, so it was a great day to be outside taking care of projects or taking a hike to view the autumn colors. But you probably needed your own hiking boots for the walk as these boots are a bit ‘attached’ to the posts!

The nice day had some people raking up leaves while others were out taking a drive to view the colorful leaves, even if some areas are past peak and the windy days are stripping some trees bare. This old mill was built in 1850.

The rain moved in by afternoon, shorting the dry leaf peeping time for today but next week may be a sunny week for viewing the changing foliage.
Color Before the Rain
The drizzle lasted until late afternoon and the sun managed to peak out from the clouds as it was about to set. The trees were casting long shadows but where the sun had a clear path, it highlighted the trees displaying the changing colors.
