After some early orange and red maples leaves, the changing colors seem to be behind normal years here but some areas are displaying a nice array of colors.
After a few cloudy damp days, tomorrow’s partly sunny forecast might bring out some fall leaf lookers on back roads to view the changing colors of autumn.
The first day of autumn felt more like summer with the temperature in the 90s and dew points in the 70s. The heat won’t last, just like the autumn colors won’t last long and the cold of winter will come too quickly.
The cold, rainy day was not a good day to hike on trails to look at changing colors of leaves and if any leaf looking was done, it would have been more comfortable from a car or inside the house.
Some people might have spent Saturday doing some fishing on a nice early autumn day while others were engaged in other outdoor activities. The maple leaves are beginning to display their vibrant changing colors of red, orange and yellow.
The cooler temperatures this winter feels more like temperatures for the end of September and some of the maple trees think it is autumn already too as they are changing colors.
There was some leaves falling today, but not during warmer autumn time, but some of the remaining oak leaves are getting blown off mixed in with the snow falling. Autumn, like spring, are very short seasons compared to winter.
It has seemed like a very twisty journey to the last day of astronomical fall this year, especially after a very cold deep freeze this past weekend but at least it did get above freezing today.
Winter may have just started but I am tired of the cloudy, snowy days already and rather see some more color outside so Saint Nicholas could have delivered some sunshine today.
Although it was slightly above freezing today, there was no autumn foliage and no sunshine to cause a reflection of yellow and gold in the pool of water as in October. Instead the ice is forming along the edges and snow hides the green beneath.
