The center of the black-eyed susan is soaking up the sun and later this fall, hundreds of seeds will land on the ground and some will take root for more yellow beauty next year.
Black-eyed Susan
The road ditches are presenting a ray of colors from orange, purple, white, and yellow. And here the yellow and black of the native Black-eyed Susans are sharing the ditch with the purple Bee Balm. The Black-eyed Susans were attracting green inch worms and the Bee Balm was enticing bees and butterflies.
Colorful Ditch
After several rain showers this afternoon, the sun peeked out for a few moments this evening and flowers glowed from their dampness. The horse received a needed bath too as the birds like to sit on it. (Course the horse doesn’t complain, doesn’t fuss, doesn’t need feeding, doesn’t make messes and doesn’t break the fence which is better than the rest of my critters.)
