A new Navy vessel built in Wisconsin was commissioned in Duluth, MN, today and will sail through the Great Lakes and down to its station in Florida. The new navy vessel is in better shape than this old fishing boat which has seen too many sunsets.

With the way the wind has been blowing the last couple of times, I would be too chicken to go out on this commercial fishing boat on Lake Superior. I would stick to the shore and watch the waves rolling in and not feeling them on the water.

The above average temperatures today made it a perfect day to spend outdoors and for some that might have included some fishing time. Even this commercial fishing boat probably prefers the nice weather instead of cold and stormy. The seagulls follow the fishing boat around and some gulls even catch a ride back into the harbor.

I don’t think I can be a commercial fisherman after watching this boat leave the safety of the harbor as it started rocking when it hit the open water on a calm day. So I hate to see how the boat rocks on a windy day with bigger waves on Lake Superior.

This might have been the last warm day of the month to take a boat out on the lake, although you probably want a more seaworthy boat than this retired fishing vessel. The Eagle was built in 1927 and in later years was part of the commercial fishing fleet out of Cornucopia, Wisconsin until it was retired in 1972.

The work week ends on Friday for some people, but for this old fishing boat, the working week ended a long time ago as the Eagle was retired in 1972.
