The spring flower may have been very late this year, but the summer flowers might be a little ahead from other years as these iris add some color on the sunny day.
The snow glories are finally making their appearance, a month later than normal. Hopefully with the April rain showers, more May flowers will make an appearance too.
Finally I found the first blossoms of spring which have somehow survived the below freezing nights and days, but probably because they were next to my basement door where some heat escaped out of the house.
It is a good thing the flowers haven’t come up yet as they would have been covered in snow again plus the day was below freezing so the blossoms would be turning blue in the cold.
Ten years ago, these flowers were blooming for the first day of spring. There is no hint of leaves poking up through the ground where the snow recently melted so no Snow Glories to signal the start of spring this year.
