It was a nice October day when I hiked to Lost Creek Falls this past autumn. It would be interesting to see what it looks like now in the winter although the trek the trail to the falls would be more difficult to made in the deep snow and slippery ice.

The strong winds have stripped a lot of leaves from the trees and today’s heavy rain was washing them away.
Washing Away Color
The warm fall sun on a Sunday allowed some weekend outdoor adventures, if you didn’t have to be raking up leaves or other outdoors projects. And since it is a 3 mile round trip hike to visit this waterfall, you want to stay and savor every minute possible before taking your leave of this piece of nature.

Although the morning was rainy, the sun appeared in the afternoon to allow some outdoor adventures on an autumn weekend like a hike through the woods to see a waterfall.
Autumn at Lost Creek Falls
As I was raking snow off the house roof, the white snow falling reminded me of Lost Creek Falls. But viewing that waterfall in the summer is more enjoyable than standing waist deep in snow in below freezing temperatures.

I watched the wind swirl the white snowflakes around like a tornado on this chilly day, but I’m getting to be a wimp as I rather see white water swirls on a summer day instead.

The snow continued to melt today, causing water to drip off the roof but there is plenty of snow left to melt so it will be like a waterfall for several more days.

The small amount of water flowing down the falls would have increased to a greater and wider flow after this evening thunderstorms. On light flows, it could work as a nice little shower on a hot summer day.

The leprechauns would have been doing unplanned Irish jig on my cement as it was covered in ice this morning. It wasn’t a sunny, green day with lots of shamrocks to be found even though the ice melted after a while. Moss seems to be the only green outside right now and it can make a pretty green scene where it grows in the mist of a waterfall.

Thunder was heard yesterday afternoon, but there was not much rainfall from it and the sun would peek out in between the light rain shower. Walking through a waterfall would provide a cold shower, even if the waterfall wasn’t a big one.
