The abnormal spring rainfall has been washing out culverts and causing flooding since the storms have been dropping a lot of rain in a short time. Hopefully this barn is high enough up on the hill so the critters in the barn don’t have to wade through water.
Red Reflections
New birth is one sign of spring and early summer, from baby lambs, calves, piglets, kittens, birds and even foals, like this young one staying close to mommy’s side in the pasture.
Cute Foal
Generally you might see barns of a similar style in an area, especially if built in the same era, but then you might notice one with a different design and it jumps out at you. I like the peaked arch doorway on the side door like a Gothic arch on ancient buildings.

On a bright, sunny Sunday morning you might stumble upon a church at the bottom of a hill with a bright roof. The statement “It’s the little church with the copper top” describes this church very well.
Spring Lake Lutheran Church
Anyone living in Wisconsin knows snow is a big part of life, but I do enjoy spring when things are blooming and the landscape turns green again. I took a photo of this barn in the winter and while the red provided a nice contrast against the white snow, I do prefer the red and green instead (even with some yellow from weeds) and some pinks too.

There are more signs that spring may truly be here since the air is filled with the scent of blooming trees, like this flowering crab tree.

The trees are finally leafing out again but when the leaves first emerge, they almost have a fall feel with colorful shades of yellows, reds, browns and greens.

Nestled amongst the farm fields of Southwest Wisconsin, you can stumble upon small rural country churches like St. Peter Catholic Church near Cuba City, Wisconsin.
Country Church
Sometimes newer and bigger isn’t always better as the farmers in the area are finding out. The horse drawn plows have been working in the fields for almost a month, but the big ‘horse’ power tractors have been getting stuck quite frequently in the soggy ground. And then there are the bets going on whether the third tractor will get the second stuck tractor out which was trying to pull the first stuck tractor and plow out.

Red wagon wheels at least add some color against the grass greening up since the wildflowers are slow in opening up, but it sure would be nice if the wheels could roll in some sunny, warm days.
