After the morning showers, the sun shone in the afternoon as the thunderhead clouds began to rebuild for another round of rain.

The evening rumbled as a storm rolled in and the thunderhead cloud climbed so high my camera couldn’t capture the top of it. But for all the noise and eerie sky, the storm skirted just to the north and didn’t get a drop of rain.

The sunset might have set already this evening but the thunderheads were higher to catch the later sun rays to light up and glow on the clouds.

Recently there have been a lot of popcorn type rain showers springing up, with thunderheads dotting the sky and providing a firework like display inside the cloud as the lightning appears to slam around the inside of it. My finger was too slow reacting to catch the lightning flashes but it seems odd to be watching it from a distance knowing it is raining a lot under the cloud while I remained dry.

After I shot the flower pictures which I posted yesterday, the sun started to disappear and reappear due to the clouds, and some clouds were rather big clouds. It always amazes me how fast a thunderhead can build as there wasn’t a cloud in the east sky when I went to the pond last evening, but a few minutes later, one was billowing up.
It really looked ominous when the low dark clouds were covering the thunderhead at first with just peeks of white showing through the gray, but once the dark clouds moved out of the way, the white cumulonimbus still looked ominous and more imposing while it continued to climb upwards.
