The turkeys probably enjoyed today’s sunshine, especially since the hunters were after deer and not them.

A turkey brood was hanging out in the yard this chilly morning. The young poults have grown quite a bit but they still haven’t reached the same height as their mother by the start of autumn so they better eat more of my wood ticks so they can get bigger.

The last few mornings, several turkey hens with their chicks have wandered across my lawn as the sun was rising. They have been dropping feathers as they travel around and my cats like to pounce on them and start chewing on them. On the dewy mornings, you can see the trails the turkeys leave behind but at least it isn’t tracks in snow yet.
