The state free park day will draw people to cooler places on a hot Sunday. The Willow River cascades through a 200 foot deep gorge where one of the lower layers of rock is around 600 million years old.
The hot temperatures today had roads buckling and people were trying to find ways to stay cool, including water activities and even walking through a waterfall.
In addition to the free fishing weekend, it is also the free state park this weekend so many of the parks had an increase in the number of visitors on this nice June day enjoying the scenery like this waterfall on the Willow River.
The weekend enabled more people to head to the water to cool off, including waterfalls where some ventured through the falling water to stand behind the falls. With my luck, I would have slipped and rolled down the falls.
This weekend was Wisconsin’s Free Fishing and Free State Park event so many parks and fishing spots were filled with extra people. And some wandered into the water and cooled off in the falls as they enjoyed the warmer temperatures.
The small streams are flowing with the melting snow and other frozen rivers are beginning to melt and eventually people will enjoy the rivers on a warm summer day again.
