In muddy conditions critter tracks can be spotted easier than on hard ground, but tracks really stand out in a fresh coating of snow. Just in the short distance I walked to the bird feeders and to feed the cats, I saw numerous bird tracks, as well as mouse, squirrels, rabbit and even evidence that a stray cat visited too. And of course I left my tracks too in the snow.

The day didn’t warm up above freezing or even above 20 so the ground is still covered with that cold white stuff and even more snowflakes were flying through the air too.
Still Hanging Low
A change definitely arrived overnight, from 57 yesterday afternoon to -3 wind chill this morning plus a icy white coating covering the landscape. Although not a lot of snow, the switch from rain to snow also brought a time of ice too, so a lot of branches were coated and hanging lower to the ground.

In the struggle between autumn and winter, it appears the first of November is leaning towards winter with a new coating of snow covering the ground and trying to hide any of the fallen leaves.

It seems like Halloween came early this year and it wasn’t a treat but a trick with the snow falling this morning and throughout the whole day. And the wet snow is always tricky and I was a victim of the “trick” snow and slipped and fell when trying to walk down a slope. I was rather wet and cold by the time I stopped sliding down the hill (without a toboggan) and was able to get off the ground.

Spring has disappeared again. The warm 72 degrees yesterday has changed to below freezing this evening with ice pellets and snowflakes falling.
Back to Winter
The calendar says that today is the last day of winter, not that Mother Nature pays much attention to the calendar as there is a chance of snow later this week, but maybe there won’t be anymore sunsets with a icy layer on the snow to catch the colors of the setting sun.

Although spring arrives next week, by the calendar anyway, but mother nature is not letting winter leave yet with below normal cold temperatures and more snow overnight.

The sun melted a little snow, forming a thin layer of water on top of the ice on my pond, which caught the color of the setting sun.

Yesterday my pond started to overflow from the melting snow but with the rain today, the scene changed from snow to a lawn covered in running water but since it was still raining, I didn’t venture out for the after picture today.
