This old barn is in good shape so it can provide some shelter from all the rain. This barn was built in 1929 for Castleberry Farms.

It has been a cold, rainy Sunday and puddles are getting deeper on my lawn. The pond may be far enough downhill from this barn so that the old wooden barn might provide some dry shelter to critters.

There was no blue skies with puffy clouds today as the day was filled with clouds and mist. This red barn was built in 1925 and adds some color in early spring days.

The full moon today is called the Full Strawberry Moon, which came from the Algonquin tribes in eastern North America who knew it as a signal to gather the ripening fruit of wild strawberries. And the Strawberry Moon has the bright planet Jupiter next to it this year.
This barn doesn’t have a full moon and has stars instead of a planet but it is an interesting nighttime sky theme.

The fence doesn’t need painting, but it looks like the barn might need a new coat soon. The wooden barns are quickly fading from the landscape as the structure doesn’t conform to the new technology and methods of farming. But no matter what size barn you have, it is never big enough!

Another hot and humid summer day caused a lot of things to sweat in the sun like me, but also the corn. Corn doesn’t actually sweat and the technical term is evapotranspiration, the natural process of water evaporating from plants to the air. The corn stalks act like wicks or straws drawing up soil moisture which beads up on leaves and is carried off by warmer air increasing the humidity.

Another coating of snow was added to the ground overnight covering any trace of green grass. I always thought red barns looked better against the snow than white barns but I prefer red barn displayed with the summer greenery instead.
