I love old wooden barns but I am a bit prejudice in that I prefer to see white barn in the summer time when the green grass complements the white barn, especially if the barn is trimmed in green. Red barns look good against the white snow or green grass, although it is warmer for the fingers to take pictures in the summertime!

Watching the snow come down this morning makes it look more like Christmas than approaching Thanksgiving. I suppose some are happy to see the snow but I’m not ready for snow yet this year.
Winter Is Coming
A month ago, the sunflowers had smiling yellow faces and the leaves were green but after the wind yesterday, a lot of the trees are now barren and the sunflowers heads are hanging down weary of the approaching winter.

Autumn brings an array of colors from the fall foliage on the trees with the fields of crops changing as harvest time approaches under the blue skies but with a bit of summer green hanging on.

Old silos sometimes take on a green look when vines inch their way up and cover them but in this case the vines are climbing on both ends of the barn with wild cucumber vines climbing by the round hay bales.

The cattle are more interested in the hay than with the approaching storm, but then they are probably getting used to the storms and getting rained on since it has been a wet June.
Ignoring the Storm
Generally you might see barns of a similar style in an area, especially if built in the same era, but then you might notice one with a different design and it jumps out at you. I like the peaked arch doorway on the side door like a Gothic arch on ancient buildings.

Anyone living in Wisconsin knows snow is a big part of life, but I do enjoy spring when things are blooming and the landscape turns green again. I took a photo of this barn in the winter and while the red provided a nice contrast against the white snow, I do prefer the red and green instead (even with some yellow from weeds) and some pinks too.

There are no leaves on the trees or corn planted in the field yet since it is the dull time of spring after the snow disappears (or most of it) and before things begin to green up, but with a rainy day on a dull landscape, I needed a more colorful picture. The old rock foundation and the mismatched upper windows caught my eye on this old barn.

Winter this year is like this barn, it just keeps going around and around and never ends with more ice and snow in April.
This twelve-sided barn with two small dormers, a cupola, and a two-pitch roof was built prior to 1925 and is showing some wear and tear.
